Bearings and bushings

Bearings and bushings are both mechanical components that are used to support and reduce friction between moving parts in a machine or device. Bearings are typically made of metal and are designed to allow a shaft or other moving part to rotate smoothly and with minimal resistance. Bushings, on the other hand, are typically made of a softer material such as bronze or plastic, and are used to reduce friction between two parts that are not intended to move relative to each other. Bearings and bushings are used in a wide range of applications, from automobiles and aircraft to appliances and machines in a variety of industries.

At Advanced Sealing Technology we offer bearings of high American quality. These composite and thermoplastic bearings and bushings are suitable for a wide variety of applications.

Bearing materials

Polymer bearings are bearings that are made of a polymer material, such as plastic or rubber. These bearings are typically used in applications where metal bearings are not suitable, such as in food processing or in environments where corrosion is a concern. Polymer bearings can be lubricated or unlubricated. Lubricated polymer bearings have a layer of lubricant, such as oil or grease, applied to the surface of the bearing to reduce friction and wear. Unlubricated polymer bearings do not have a lubricant applied, and rely on the inherent properties of the polymer material to reduce friction and wear. The choice between lubricated and unlubricated polymer bearings will depend on the specific requirements of the application and the desired performance characteristics of the bearing.
